Thinking about Theme November 17 2014


Today students began thinking about themes in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird as this is what the essay will be about for this unit. Students could choose from either of the prompts listed below. This is not a formal writing assignment, but a way for students to begin thinking about theme and prepare for the essay assignment that will be shared with them soon. 

Prompt 1
There are various themes present in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. How do you think a person can learn life lessons from a novel? Give some examples of themes that relate to real life and either you can apply those lessons to your life, or you can imagine this in other circumstances.

OR

Prompt 2

Choose a theme from To Kill a Mockingbird and share how that theme relates to real life. Find some examples in the novel that support that theme.
