TKAM ESSAY

Formulate a well organized essay that analyzes and discusses one of the following themes from To Kill a Mockingbird :

1. Withhold judgment on a person’s character until you have walked a mile in that person’s shoes.

2. Be who you truly are; never allow someone else dictate who you are or will be.

3. Stand up for what you believe in even if you stand alone.

Specific details from the novel are necessary to support your ideas.  You must include four passages from the novel with complete and accurate parenthetical application (see example below).

Be sure you have solid introduction sentences and conclusion sentences in your paragraphs along with proper transitions from one paragraph to the next.

Proper parenthetical citation:
Ex. #1 – Citing a passage without dialogue.
“Shooting on Sundays was prohibited, so Dill and I kicked Jem’s football around the pasture for a while, which was no fun” (p. 148).
Ex. #2 – Citing a passage with dialogue
“ ‘I’m going out for a while,’ he said, ‘You folks’ll be in bed when I come back, so I’ll say good night now’ “(p. 148).

We are Digital Citizens

Today we discussed social media and digital citizenship in class. Social media has many uses in our daily lives and for education specifically, but as with any tool, responsibility is key. Students, all people, need to be aware of the footprint that is left with every post online. Google is the new resume. I want every student to use social media to expand/flatten their world and broaden their horizons, but to do so in a way this responsible.
